The latest offerings from Swarovski put a contemporary spin on a highly recognisable symbol: the swan that has held pride of place in the company’s logo since 1988, and that will now do the same on a series of pendants, rings and earrings. The Austrian crystal accessories brand has added new designs to its Iconic Swan collection, paying tribute to what is arguably one of the most recognisable emblems in the world of jewellery.

Nathalie Colin, Creative Director of Swarovski, commented: “For decades the swan has been the perfect symbol to represent the Swarovski brand. This icon of femininity has a lot of personality – just like Swarovski jewellery. As such, I like to use this as a design element in the jewellery collection. A timeless and very chic motif for every occasion: more classic in a shimmering gold shade and clear Swarovski crystal, daring and edgy in black – it’s my favourite symbol and is the focus of this collection.”

The brand has also enlisted the help of fashion icons Margaret Zhang and Vanessa Hong to create photo stories showcasing how pieces from the line can be incorporated into fashion-forward everyday wear.

Australian style blogger, photographer, stylist and law student Margaret Zhang was tapped to capture the inherent contrasts of the collection, playing with both light and dark motifs. Taking inspiration from the aesthetics and movement of ballet, particularly from the stories of Swan Lake and Black Swan, Zhang’s striking photography series juxtaposes black and white, highlighting the grace and beauty of such delicate pieces as the Iconic Swan pendant in black. Also featured is the Iconic Swan open ring, which combines a white crystal pearl with the swan motif in black crystal Pointiage: a proprietary technique developed by Swarovski in which crystals are set freely by hand without the use of prongs or glue, achieving close proximity and exceptional radiance.

Vanessa Hong, Vancouver-based style blogger and entrepreneur at The Haute Pursuit, was also invited to deliver her own take on the collection. Pairing the elegant accessories with her black bomber jacket and a cup of coffee, Hong provides an example of how the range of pieces can be mixed and matched to create effortless glamour or playful femininity on the go. The Iconic Swan pierced earring jackets in rose gold tones and glittering Pointiage crystal, for instance, are versatile enough to be worn alone or with the Crystal Pearl earring jackets for an edgier look.

Swarovski’s latest collection is proof that a traditional emblem can be reinvented in the form of stylish, modern and wearable pieces, all without compromising on the house’s signature craftsmanship and quality.
